Scholarships for doctoral students

A full-time doctoral student is entitled to a scholarship, which he / she begins to receive after enrollment. Heights
scholarships are determined according to the tables in Act no. 553/2003 Coll. as amended:

  • PhD student before the dissertation exam (the dissertation exam usually takes place during the 2nd year):
    EUR 495 (9th grade, 1st step)
  • PhD student after the dissertation exam:
    EUR 580 (10th grade, 1st step)

Scholarships are not taxed. Health insurance is paid for the doctoral student by the state, additional benefits to the social insurance company may or may not be paid by the student himself.

Doctoral studies are the equivalent of full-time work , and a maximum period of four years is a very tough term for a typical doctoral student. If you take your doctoral studies seriously, do not plan work in addition to doctoral studies in addition to e.g. in company. If you are planning to work alongside the study, it is fair to openly inform the supervisor in advance or consider an external form of doctoral study.

Dormitory accommodation is available for internal doctoral students.
